How to Cook Chestnuts
Boiling chestnuts is the fastest way to cook them.
They can be crushed, preparing a puree to make sweets, fillings, soups, cakes and cookies. We can add some aromas to the chestnuts, with fennel, cinnamon, or even lemon zest, according to taste.
Generally, 1 cinnamon stick is used for every 1 kg and a lemon peel for every 400 gr.

Boiled Chestnuts with Fennel
Ingredients
- chestnuts
- Fennel – 1 Tablespoon
- Salt – A Pinch
Instructions
- Wash and cut each chestnut.
- Place in a pan with hot water, salt and fennel, let it cook for 10 to 20 minutes.
- Remove when they are tender, drain and wrap in a cloth and wait about 10 minutes before eating.
