Fresh Chestnut - Small
Traditional fresh chestnuts of the Longal variety with small size.
The Longal chestnut is visually characterized by its brown tone and for being later to ripen, thus providing it with a much more refined flavor. This variety of chestnut has maintained a relative anonymity precisely because of its late ripening. True chestnut lovers have a very special appreciation for this variety because of its proximity to the varieties of chestnuts that our ancestors consumed until a few centuries ago.
It is a very refined nut in terms of flavor intensity, pleasant even too much, cozy enough and with a sweetness above average but not too much, making this variety the ideal for an unusual dessert.
There are two great ways to consume this fruit. Baked or boiled. You can bake it in an electric oven if time is a constraint or if you have more time, bake it in charcoal. If you prefer to consume it cooked, just add water, salt and a little fennel to the chestnuts, if you like the additional flavor that this herb gives.
To help preserve the chestnuts, the bags/pouches contain small holes to help keep them fresh.
Since chestnuts have a very high moisture content, they must be kept refrigerated to delay their perishability. Use a refrigerator with a temperature close to 0º to store them for several weeks. To prolong even more the conservation in a refrigerated environment, we recommend placing a damp paper towel inside the bags/bags that contain the product.
